So what is a "groover"? I don't think it's listed in Webster's, so let me tell you what I understand a "groover" to be. A groover is a person who listens to, dances to, and lives for house music. What is house music? I'm sure most of you have heard so-called "house" remixes of your favorite top 40 songs, some of which may have actually deserved the "house" label. More often than not, however, a "house" remix in pop culture simply refers to dance or club remixes of songs. These songs often receive the generic "techno" label. To truly understand what house music is, one must look beyond remixes of pop songs. House music comes from the so-called "underground" dance movement. Clubs and raves are often the only forums where house music and other sub-genres of electronic music can be heard. Try listening to a few of my favorite house dj's to get a real feel of what house music is to me. home
